Are we crazy?

You probably do think I'm crazy for going to Phoenix in July, but I had a good reason. I promise! My dear, sweet, wonderful, bestest friend (and sister-in-law) had an extra ticket to the American Idol Concert which kicked off it's tour in Phoenix. I was sooooo there. The two boys and I hopped on a plane to go spend last week with the Meadows.

Even though I got sick the morning of the concert, it was totally worth it to go. My favorite was, of course, David Cook, but little David, Brooke White and Micheal Johns were also pretty amazing. Most every one I really enjoyed. There were a couple that struggled and were lack-luster (I bet you could guess who they were), but over all the concert was a very cool experience. We even got to meet the Pop Tart! (Aren't we lucky?)

The boys had a great time, as always. Here's one of the things they can do together without fighting: watching tv!!

We defintely needed to swim, because it was so hot. Tyler was a little afraid of the deep water so he hung out in the boats for awhile. Janna finally conviced him to be brave and after a little work, he was doing great in the pool.

Brayden ate plenty of ice while we were there, trying to stay cool!

Can you tell it's the hottest weather Tyler's ever experienced? (Check out how red his face is!)

Tyler was very excited to go to Chuck E Cheese with Ethan. He's been talking about it for months, ever since we went for Ethan's birthday, so it was fun to suprise the boys with an evening of fun.

I don't have any pictures of the 4th of July because it was pretty laid back. We attended a fabulous breakfast, then played with an adorable puppy, then watch Ethan and Dave perform in a very cool patriotic show. That night we put the boys to bed and watched the fireworks on tv.

Aside from those things, we also went to a movie, watched Ethan at swim lessons (Tyler loves to say chicken...star..........ROCKET!), ate macaroni and cheese with hot dogs (a must whenever Janna and I are together!) and just hung out and played a lot.

We had a great time and plan on going back sometime in the winter next time...... :)

I do think you're a little crazy for going to arizona in July, but it sounds like you and the boys had a great time despite the sweltering heat. I can't believe how big your kids are getting. It's crazy!! They're such handsome boys!

I was about to say, Holy crap, Tyler looks old and HUGE.... but then I think that's some cousin or something and that Tyler is the smaller one in those pictures. Ah hah! A little less freaked out now. Oh, and we also went to Arizona in the summertime, two weeks ago we DROVE to Tucson. At least you took an airplace.

Phoenix is the best in the winter. Went there for Christmas one year when Casey and Dustin lived there and it was fabulous. Low 70's. Walk around in summer attire at Christmas.

Ha ha! Drunken Pirate is kind of a silly game, but maybe he'll have fun playing w/ the boys sometime. Basically, you have one person (the drunken pirate) close their eyes and count to 10 somewhere- usually on one end of the playground- while everyone else hides somewhere. No one but the pirate is allowed to touch the sand so they have to hide somewhere on the playground. When finished counting, the pirate then tries to find the other people while keeping his eyes closed. When he touches someone, that person becomes the new pirate. It sounds simple, but it's actually kinda hard to dodge the pirate b/c you're not allowed to touch the sand. We actually had a lot of fun playing!
