Birthdays!!

Summer is a busy time for birthdays in the Spotts family! We have a birthday every 2 weeks starting with mine, followed by Brian's, then Tyler's rounding us off. I thought you might enjoy hearing about all of our festivities!

My birthday was pretty laid back. I turned 26! We mostly just relaxed all day. I had put the finishing touches on my ice cream cupcakes the night before, so I just had to work on the pulled pork for dinner. We had some friends over for dinner and a really fun game called "Who, Where, How?"

Here's me and the girls (Ash and Anneke) after a rousing, laughter-filled game!

The next day we went down to Colorado Springs to see Brian's family, and they threw me a birthday dinner! Thanks for the lovely presents, you guys!

Here's me with my cake

Brian's birthday came next. I don't think he wants me to tell you how old he turned. Again, we mostly had a relaxing day. We did drive around a bit looking for some old nintendo games that Brian wanted. That evening, we had friends over again for games (this time, video games and Pirates.) While we were all playing, there was a random crash-shatter-weirdness! The glass dome on our lighting fixture crashed to the table and shattered on the floor right where the kids had been laying to watch a movie. Eek! Luckily, not one of the kids was laying there, or ended up in the path of the glass. It was sure a scary moment.

Since we forgot to take any pictures on Brian's birthday, here's a picture of Tyler playing the Wii that a friend gave Brian for his birthday.

Tyler turned 3 on Sunday! Can you believe he's that big already? I sure can't! He started his celebrating earlier in the week when we went to Brian's dad's house for dinner. Grandma and Grandpa Spotts gave Tyler a Buzz Lightyear for his birthday!!!

He even slept with it that night!

On Sunday morning, his actual birthday, Tyler had a bowl on maraschino cherries for breakfast. We also gave him one present before church.

He loves his work bench!

After church, we heard the news that Papa (my southern grandpa) had passed away. (I'd rather not talk about it right now.) Since we received such bad news on what was supposed to be a happy day, we called in the troops! Melissa, Angela, Shauna, Judy, Murell, Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa all came down for dinner. We had macaroni and cheese with hot dogs (Tyler's favorite meal!). After dinner, Tyler got to open the rest of his presents.

His RC Lighting McQueen

His Pirate Treasure map set

He also got a stuffed frog, which he named Broggin, from Angela and a card with Pirate tattoos in it from Shauna. Great-Grandma and Grandpa mailed him a card with $2!! Thanks all of you for your wonderful generosity. We love you! (And thanks, in advance, for the gifts we know are on their way! We're looking forward to letting Tyler drag his birthday out a little longer! All of the presents in one day can be too much!)

After presents, it was time for cake!

Ka-Chow! Lighting McQueen Cupcake-Cake!

Tyler had a long day, so he curled up on Melissa's lap and fell asleep!

I love Aunt Melissa

Since Tyler's birthday was on a Sunday and he'd been asking for months to go to Casa Bonita for his birthday, we hit the Mexican Joint the next day with his friend Jefferson and his family. They sure had a great time together!

After the puppet show

Now things can wind down for a couple months while we get ready for Brayden's birthday!
